New for 2010  The house will be open for free tours on the 2nd Saturday of each month (Closed in August) from 10 am to Noon, unless it is preempted by a special event on that date.
February 8, 2010 ~ Monday:  Tory Jack Day” for the students of the Robert Morris School in South Bound Brook,  Joe Becton, guest speaker.  (Not open to the General Public).

February 13, 2010 ~ Saturday, 11 am – 4 pm “Tory Jack Day" Legend has it that Jack, a slave in the Abraham Staats household, supported the patriots by spying on the British during the American Revolution,.  This year's program will again feature speaker Joe Becton and will take place at the Abraham Staats House.  Our program, entitled 'Choosing sides in the American Revolution' focuses on the difficulty of that decision for African-Americans during the war for independence. 
In addition, Joyce Smith will again display an exhibit on Black History.

February 14, 2010 ~ "Middlebrook 5 Generals' Headquarters Bus Tour" Five historic houses that served as headquarters for American generals during the 1778-1779 Middlebrook encampment are all on this tour. The Van Horne House in Bridgewater; the Wallace House in Somerville; the Van Veghten's home in Finderne; the Abraham Staats House in South Bound Brook; the Jacobus Vanderveer House  in Bedminster.   For more information contact: Heritage Trail Association, P. February 20 & 27, 2010 ~ Saturday, Noon - 2 pm    Come to tour the house and view the Black History Exhibit by Joyce Smith. The tours are free.

April 10 & 11, 2010 ~ Saturday/Sunday:  Be a part of the American Revolution and mark your calendar for this year’s Battle of Bound Brook: Middlebrook Encampments, Living History Weekend at the Abraham Staats House".
Admission charged for entry to house tour/lecture. The grounds and street battles are free.
Make sure you tell your friends to hold the date, Huzzah!  Hope to see you there!

May 1, 2010 ~ Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm    History Fair at the Abraham Staats House Join us in celebrating the history of New Jersey. Exhibitors on the grounds will represent various historical and reenacting organizations in the state. Admission charged for the scheduled house tours; parking and grounds free.
June 14, 2010 ~ Monday: 6:00 pm "Boy Scout Troop 42 Flag Retirement Ceremony" Free to all

September 11 & 12, 2010 ~ Saturday/Sunday: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm "Civil War Days at the Abraham Staats House" - Learn about the Civil War era and Delaware & Raritan Canal while strolling the grounds and touring the historic Abraham Staats House, c. 1740. Canal slide presentation, living history Civil War re-enactors, music, exhibits and collections of Civil War era artifacts will be featured. Admission charged for entry to house tour/exhibits; parking and grounds free.

October 9 & 10, 2010 ~ Saturday: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm & Sunday: Noon to 5:00 pm "Somerset County's Weekend Journey through the Past" Guided House tours by 18th Century costumed docents; Colonial period music.   27 historic sites in Somerset County, including the Abraham Staats House, will be open for visitors during the weekend event, for information go to www.schistoryweekend.com.

December 3, 2010 ~ Friday:  Annual Meeting with Covered Dish Dinner 7:00 p.m. at the Abraham Staats House.  Business meeting first (voting on Officers and Trustees for 2011), followed by socializing, refreshments and a general nice time!

December 11 & 12, 2010 ~ Saturday/Sunday:  "Holiday at the Abraham Staats House" Each room of the Abraham Staats House is uniquely and festively decorated for the holidays by community organizations and members of the Friends of Abraham Staats House.
