The bus tour portion of the event was been cancelled; however, visitors
did take the tours by automobile.
The houses that participated
in the tour were: the
home of John Wallace,
headquarters for Washington himself; the home of
Derrick Van
Veghten,
occupied by Nathaniel Greene, the Quartermaster General; Philip Van
Horne’s, headquarters for Gen. William Alexander, Washington’s
second-in-command that winter; the Abraham Staats House where Inspector
General Frederick von Steuben was quartered, and the
Jacobus Vanderver House,
headquarters of Gen. Henry Knox, commander of the artillery.
The houses were open from 1 - 4 pm.
The Van Horne House is located at 941 East Main Street,
Bridgewater, across from the Commerce Bank Ballpark. Parking was
available next to the house at Target. The tours are free, for more
