Legend has it that Jack, a slave in the Abraham Staats
household, supported the patriots by spying on the British
during the American Revolution.
Celebrate Black History month with a program
featuring noted speaker
Joe Becton
,
who will speak on the topic “Music of the Underground Railroad” at 11:00 am.
Following Mr. Becton’s presentation, the public is invited to tour the historic Abraham Staats House
and view an exhibit on “The Underground Railroad”, presented by
local historian and Women’s Guild member, Mrs. Joyce Smith.
The exhibit and tours will end at 3 p.m. Admission is free; donations are appreciated.

Tours will be conducted with authentically dressed interpreters in period clothing
and end with light refreshments and live music. Reservations
recommended. The program lasts approximately
30 minutes.
