KEEPING THE SPIRIT OF THE JERSEYS ALIVE
When the Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair at Washington Crossing slated for May 1 was cancelled
this year due to limited resources, many people across the state were disappointed.
The annual event had provided a showcase of New Jersey’s many rich historic resources for the public. To prevent this lost opportunity, the Friends of Abraham Staats House has decided to host a
Mini State History Fair on the same date.
On May 1, exhibits and demonstrations from historical organizations across New Jersey will be on display
at the Abraham Staats House in South Bound Brook, NJ.
Visitors will experience New Jersey’s history up close and personal from the colonial era through
modern times as historic organizations and reenactors bring four centuries of New Jersey’s history to life.
The Abraham Staats House, originally constructed in 1740 and expanded several times through the
19th century, was an integral part of those four centuries of New Jersey’s history.
Tours of the house will be conducted throughout the day.
The Abraham Staats House is located at 17 Von Steuben Lane, South Bound Brook.
From Route 287 N or S, use Exit 10 to South Bound Brook. Von Steuben Lane is located off Route 527/Main Street.
The grounds will be open to the public 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission to grounds and parking is free. Tickets for tours of the Abraham Staats House are $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
