                                     Saturday, April 9th                        

10 am ~ 5 pm

Abraham Staats House and Grounds/Soldiers Encampment 17 von Steuben Lane, South Bound Brook, NJ, 08880 open to public.
House: Fee to enter for Lectures, Exhibits & Tours: $8 - adults, $4 - 18 years and under.
Grounds: No charge for Soldiers Encampment: living history, military drills, live music, cooking, sutlers, etc.

10 am ~ 4:30 pm

Special Exhibit and Children’s Craft at Bound Brook Memorial Library, 402 E High St., Bound Brook, NJ 08805. . On display in the Reading Room is an original 1777 issue of The London Chronicle documenting the Battle of Bound Brook from the British military perspective. A continuous slide show of historical images of Bound Brook and South Bound Brook will be projected. Throughout the day, children may visit the Children’s Room to make a tri-cornered hat

10 am

Soldiers leave Abraham Staats House to march down Main Street, South Bound Brook , across Queens Bridge and pass within sight of the Old Stone Arch Bridge on Railroad Ave., to the Old Presbyterian Graveyard and Memorial Library, Bound Brook.

10:30 am

Ceremony at at the Old Presbyterian Graveyard, southwest corner of East Street and East High Street, Bound Brook, NJ 08805, adjacent to Bound Brook Memorial Library.

11 am ~ Noon

Soldiers reenact the Battle of Bound Brook in vicinity of the Old Stone Arch Bridge and the Queens Bridge, in Bound Brook. Following the ceremony at the Memorial Library, American and British soldiers will assemble and march towards the Queens Bridge, battling through the streets with musket and cannons!.

11:30 am ~ 1 pm

Continuous Guided Tours of the Old Presbyterian Graveyard.   Assemble at the Bicentennial Monument to learn about Revolutionary War soldiers buried here, including Dr. William McKissack, an army captain and a founder of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of New Jersey.

Noon ~ 1 pm Soldiers Lunch ~ Bound Brook Hotel

1:15 pm ~ 1:30 pm

Soldiers assemble and begin march back to South Bound Brook over Queens Bridge.  

1:30 pm ~ 2:30 pm

American and British troops reenact Street Battle in South Bound Brook,  starting at Elm & Main St., SBB (south end of Queen’s Bridge) and battling along Main Street to Maple Ave.

2:30 pm

All troops clear Main St and return to the Soldiers Encampment at the Abraham Staats House, South Bound Brook.

2:30 pm ~ 5:pm At the Soldiers Encampment/Abraham Staats House (17 von Steuben Lane, South Bound Brook)

2:30 pm ~ 5 pm

Visit the living history American Revolutionary Soldiers Encampment at the Abraham Staats House c. 1740, Come see life as it existed for the soldiers, camp followers and others who lived the American past.
Military Drills, Demonstrations, Contests, Camp Life: Living history demonstrations ~ soldiers drilling and practicing military tactics, sutlers (merchants) selling colonial goods, sewing, basket weaving and cooking, period music and refreshments at the camp. The soldiers will be drilling during the afternoon, just as they did 200 years ago (No fee for activities on outside grounds of the Abraham Staats House.).

Soldiers Encampment and Abraham Staats House closed to the public
See you back on Sunday the 10th.

Breakfast with General Cornwallis at the historic Philip Van Horne House, 941 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Philip Van Horne will be on hand to greet visitors who wish to share breakfast with British General Cornwallis and learn about his failed attempt to capture American General Benjamin Lincoln. 4 pm ~ 8 pm

Pasta Dinner While in South Bound Brook enjoy a great Pasta Dinner, at the Fellowship Hall of the Reformed Church of Bound Brook (located in South Bound Brook at 113 Clinton Street) from 4 p.m. ~ 8 p.m.   Adults: $9, Seniors: $8, 5-12 years: $6, 4 and under: Free   Serving ziti, salad bar, sauces, meatballs, sausage, bread, desserts.

 

 

                                    Sunday, April 10th

7:30 am ~ 12 noon

Pancake Buffet Breakfast, South Bound Brook Fire Co. #1 Firehouse  Eat with the soldiers and colonial camp followers at the famous All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Buffet Breakfast at the South Bound Brook Firehouse on Edgewood Terrace, available for purchase from 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Adults: $9, Seniors: $8; under age ten: $6, under age 5: free.

10 am - 4 pm

At the Soldiers Encampment/Abraham Staats House: .
In the Abraham Staats House: Special lectures, exhibits and tours inside the Abraham Staats House (Fee for house: $8 - adults    $4 - 18 years and under.)

1:30 pm

Presentation & Lecture:  H. Kels Swan: A talk, with special exhibit items, on the American General who used the Staats House as his headquarters in 1779-Baron von Steuben- and his famous instruction manual: "Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States"

10 am - 4 pm

Visit the Colonial Surgeon ~ Learn about 18th century medical practices, treatments and instruments used during the period (portrayed by Gary DePaolo).

Soldiers Drills and Battle Demonstration on the grounds of the Abraham Staats House. Watch the American and British soldiers as they perform military maneuvers of the American Revolution. 

4 pm

Soldiers Encampment and Abraham Staats House closed to public. ~
