                                     Saturday, April 18th                        

9 am

Festivities kick off Saturday, April 18--Flag raising ceremony at the Soldiers Encampment at the Abraham Staats House in South Bound Brook

10 am - 5 pm

Abraham Staats House and Grounds/ Soldiers Encampment open to public.
House: Fee to enter for Lectures, Exhibits & Tours: $10 - adults, $5 - 18 years and under.
Grounds: No charge for Soldiers Encampment: living history, military drills, live music, cooking, sutlers, etc.

10 am

Soldiers march to Old Stone Arch Bridge via Main St., South Bound Brook

10:30 am

Ceremony at Old Stone Arch Bridge, c. 1730, one of the oldest surviving stone bridges in New Jersey and a rare example of colonial highway engineering.
Speakers: Mayor Carey Pilato, Freeholder Patricia Walsh & Historian Wayne Daniels
Holy Family students perform Yankee Doodle Dandy on tin whistles
 

11 am

Street Battle in vicinity of Queen’s Bridge, S. Main St. and on Bolmer Blvd., Bound Brook Then soldiers move to Memorial Library and Old Presbyterian Graveyard.

11 am ~ 2:30 pm

Bound Brook Memorial Library:  Featuring a Revolutionary War slide show presentation,
artifacts, guest speaker

11:30 am Brief Honor Guard ceremony, volley, at Bound Brook Memorial Library, and Old Presbyterian Graveyard (Final resting place of many of the area’s early patriots and founders.), Salute to fallen veterans.
Troops begin march to lunch at Holy Family Academy

12 noon

Soldier luncheon at Holy Family Cafeteria  

1 pm ~ 1:30 pm

Soldiers Street Battle in vicinity of Queens Bridge and Main Street in South Bound Brook American and British troops demonstrate military tactics and street battle over the Queens Bridge and onto Main Street, South Bound Brook.
Soldiers return to the Soldiers Encampment at the Abraham Staats House.

1 pm Abraham Staats House open  for tours, special lectures, presentations, exhibits.
House: Fee to enter for Lectures, Exhibits & Tours: $10 - adults, $5 - 18 years and under. 
Grounds: No charge. Soldiers Encampment: living history, military drills, contests, live music, cooking, sutlers, etc.   Come see life as it existed for the soldiers, camp followers and others who lived the American past.

 1 pm

Presentation/Exhibit: Earl Becker – Trade Beads of 18th Century.

2 pm

"Lectures Through Time" ~ Presentation & Lecture
   Historian Wayne Daniels
of the Old Barracks, Trenton: “The Approaching Storm”.

3 pm

Encampment at Abraham Staats House, Living History, Military Drills and Contest, British and American soldiers of the American Revolution.

5 pm

Abraham Staats Grounds/House closed to the public, Flag lowered
See you back on Sunday the 19th.

4 ~ 8 pm

Eat with the troops at a great Pasta Dinner, available for purchase at the Fellowship Hall of the Reformed Church of Bound Brook (located in South Bound Brook, on Clinton Street) from 4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.   Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, 5-12 years: $6, 4 and under: Free

 

 

                                    Sunday, April 19th

7:30 am ~ 12 noon

Pancake Breakfast at the Firehouse.  Eat with the soldiers and colonial camp followers at the famous All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Buffet Breakfast at the South Bound Brook Firehouse on Edgewood Terrace, available for purchase from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Adults: $9, Seniors: $8; under age ten: $6, under age 5: free.

9 am

Flag Raising Ceremony ~ at the Soldiers Encampment at the Abraham Staats House in South Bound Brook

10 am - 4 pm

Abraham Staats House and Grounds/ Soldiers Encampment open to public.

10 am ~ 4 pm Gary DePaolo,  New Jersey Militia, Heard’s Brigade, Surgeon of the Colonial era. Learn about medical practices of the 18th century and view surgical instruments used during that time.   

 11 am

Presentation/Exhibit: Earl Becker – Trade Beads of 18th Century.

12:30 pm

"Lectures Through Time" ~ Presentation & Lecture:
   H. Kels Swan
"A Map of the First Middle Brook Encampment, 1777"

1 pm

"Lectures Through Time" ~ Lecture & Slide Show:   
   Author and historian Arthur S. Lefkowtiz:When Artwork Speaks: Eyewitness Images From the American Revolution"
~ Color slide presentation of 18th Century artistry in the form of studio executed history paintings, portraits, illustrations and rapidly executed drawings done in the field.

2 pm

Soldiers begin to assemble for battle demonstration

3 pm

Battle Demonstration on the grounds Abraham Staats House. Watch the American and British soldiers as they perform military maneuvers of the American Revolution. 

4 pm

Flag is lowered ~ Soldiers Encampment and Abraham Staats House closed to public.
