| The Abraham Staats House is one of the finest buildings from the 18th century Dutch Settlement of the Raritan Valley. Beginning as a two-room home to the Staats family farmstead in 1740–which they occupied for nearly 200 years—the house was expanded to include a fine Federal/Greek Revival two-story addition. It served as headquarters of General von Steuben during the American Revolution Middlebrook Cantonment of 1778-1779, and is listed in New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. | |
